Orphans Sponsorship Program

Sponsoring a child through Sustainable Development Community e. V. is about empowerment, dignity, and sustainable change. Your monthly contribution goes beyond covering basic needs—it provides a child with the foundation for a better future.

We work closely with local communities to ensure that each child receives personalized support tailored to their unique challenges. By sponsoring a child, you don’t just help one individual—you uplift an entire community by promoting education, health, and long-term opportunities.

What your sponsorship covers

A Loving & Caring Home

Beyond basic needs, we strive to create a nurturing environment where each child feels safe, valued, and supported.

Education & School Essentials

Your sponsorship ensures the child has access to quality education, covering school fees, books, uniforms, and learning materials so they can build a brighter future.

Nutrition & Daily Meals

Many children face malnutrition due to extreme poverty. Your sponsorship helps provide nutritious meals so they can stay healthy and focused on their studies.

Healthcare & Well-being

Regular medical check-ups, vaccinations, and emergency health support ensure the child stays strong and protected from preventable diseases or even death.

Mentorship & Personal Growth

Your sponsorship provides access to life skills training, emotional support, and extracurricular activities that help children build confidence and independence for their future.

7. Are there extra fees when I make an online donation? Can I help cover them?

Yes, like all online payment transactions, a small portion of each donation is subject to processing fees charged by payment platforms. However, we want to assure you that 100% of your sponsorship donation reaches your sponsored child—we do not deduct any fees from your contribution.

As an NGO, we cover these fees ourselves, but if you’d like to help us offset these costs, you can choose to add a small extra amount when making your donation. Below is a breakdown of the transaction fees we pay:

  • Platform fee: 2.5% (plus external service fees such as Stripe, PayPal, etc.)
  • PayPal donations: 1.5% + €0.35 per transaction (we qualify for PayPal’s lowest rate for non-profits)
  • Stripe fees:
    • 1.5% + €0.25 for standard cards from the European Economic Area (EEA)
    • 2.5% + €0.25 for cards from the United Kingdom + 2% if currency conversion is required
    • 3.25% + €0.25 for foreign cards + 2% if currency conversion is required
    • €0.35 for SEPA Direct Debit Scheme
    • From 2.99% + €0.35 for Klarna payments

🔹 Domestic standard cards:

  • Cards issued by Visa and Mastercard for consumers
  • All cards issued by American Express, Discover, Diners Club, Maestro, Cartes Bancaires, and UnionPay

🔹 Domestic premium cards:

  • Corporate, company, and business cards issued by Visa and Mastercard

We deeply appreciate any additional support to help us cover these unavoidable transaction costs, but whether you choose to help with these fees or not, your full sponsorship amount will always reach your sponsored child.

8. What happens if I can no longer continue my sponsorship?

We understand that personal or financial circumstances can change. If you are no longer able to continue your sponsorship, you can cancel your child sponsorship at any time without giving reasons.

We kindly ask that you inform us as soon as possible so we can arrange alternative support for the child. Our priority is to ensure that every sponsored child continues to receive the care, education, and opportunities they need.

If you have any questions or need assistance with the cancellation process, please feel free to reach out to us. We appreciate your support, no matter how long you were able to contribute it has made a difference in a child’s life!

9. Can I give additional gifts or donations to my sponsored child?

Of course! If you would like to send a birthday gift, holiday present, or additional financial support, you are more than welcome to do so. We will ensure that your extra donation is used according to your wishes and will send you a picture of the child receiving your gift.

To keep logistics costs low and to support local businesses, we encourage purchasing gifts locally in the child’s community. This not only ensures that the child receives something meaningful and useful but also contributes to the local economy.

Please bear in mind that particularly large or valuable gifts can sometimes cause envy and resentment in the community. We therefore recommend gifts that encourage collaborative play and learning. Such gifts strengthen the sense of community and support children’s development in a meaningful way. If you need help choosing a suitable gift, we will be happy to advise you.
